Of course, one of the key attractions of Mooloolaba and the Sunshine Coast, in general, is the ocean. Many of our valued guests like to get out on the water while they are staying with us.

Lucky for them, the Mooloolaba Wharf Precinct is within easy walking distance from our hotel. Here are some of the things you can do to experience the ocean, or the waterways, around Mooloolaba.

Sunset Cruise

If you are after a relaxing, cruisy way to experience the waterways of Mooloolaba, then a sunset cruise can be a perfect choice. There are a wide variety of boats available and sunset tours leave on most days during the busy holiday periods.

Many Mooloolaba sunset boat trips offer dinner or snacks on board, with drinks available, naturally. Some can include live music or other added benefits.

Sunset cruises generally stick to the harbour area, as they may not be insured to go into the ocean, no matter how calm it may seem.

Scuba Diving

From the Mooloolaba Wharf and along the Spit, there are a number of Scuba Diving companies that can take you out to the best dive spots along the coast.

One of the more famous spots is the HMAS Brisbane, which is a military wreck not far away. There are also diving courses available and snorkelling options too.

Deep-Sea Fishing

It is easy to join a reek fishing charter, again from the wharf or from a company based along the spit. There is a great chance you will catch snapper, tuna, pearl perch, jawfish, flathead, trevally and many more.

Jet Ski Hire

Through a variety of providers, you can hire a jet ski or go on a jet ski tour. It can be a fun way to scoot along the canals or to test yourself out in the ocean. To do so you will need to have a license. It is possible to get a boating license in Mooloolaba too if you need one first.

Whale Watching

From roughly July to October, there is the opportunity to go whale watching. Some of the diving companies also offer diving with the whales. You can snorkel along with them if the conditions are right.

Many of these tours leave from the harbour in Mooloolaba, or directly from The Mooloolaba Wharf. This makes us a great resort hotel in Mooloolaba to stay at if you want to get on the ocean simply.
