Australia Zoo, only a 25-minute drive of Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast, was made famous by the Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin. The 105-acre zoo is the most interactive conservation destination on the planet where you can get up close to animals including koalas, wombats, and kangaroos! Watch the sunrise or the sunset on Mooloolaba’s costal walkway. A relaxed 20-minute walk from the Surf Club to Alexandra Headland has some breathtaking views and if you are lucky enough you might even spot whales playing on the horizon. Alternatively head the other way and take a look at where the ocean and Mooloolaba River meet.

An array of deep sea fishing charters are on offer in the region with the option to catch some crabs and see many different fish species. On a lot of the charters you will get the delight of watching whales play in the horizon.

A half hour drive away is the spectacular Hinterland which is occupied by unspoilt Gondwana Rainforest, remarkable waterfalls, and dainty villages with artisan galleries, antique and boutique stores. View the spectacular geology of the Glass House Mountains. Being the perfect destination for those enthused by hiking, birdwatching, wine tasting, Hinterland has it all.
