How To Spend A Family Weekend In Mooloolaba

If you are coming to Mooloolaba with your family for the weekend, there are so many ways to enjoy and explore the Sunshine Coast. The below post includes some itinerary options, assuming that it is a sunny weekend here.
On Friday afternoon or night, you will most likely start your getaway by checking into our family resort hotel in Mooloolaba. You will enjoy the friendly service and then settle into your self-contained two-bedroom apartment which has everything you need to relax and enjoy a weekend getaway.
Many guests spend the first evening close to home, as you can wander Mooloolaba Esplanade or The Wharf Mooloolaba precinct situated across the road from our hotel. From the Esplanade, you can walk onto the beach and feel the warm sand between your toes, or even have a quick swim in the patrolled beach.

Saturday

The first full day of your holiday might be a nice time to head north towards Noosa. Along the way, you could visit either the Yandina Markets or the famous Eumundi Markets. You could be there in time for breakfast at one of the many stalls, or you could start with breakfast right here in Mooloolaba.
After the markets, it is just a twenty-minute drive to Coolum. If you are feeling active, go and enjoy the spectacular views as you climb Mount Coolum, or take it slower and walk along the foreshore shopping street and check out the beach. From Coolum, you can take the coast road up to Noosa.
One of the nicest things to do for a visitor in Noosa is to walk along the coastal track. It passes through Noosa Heads National Park and includes stunning beaches such as Tea Tree Bay, Granite Bay and others too. Most beaches in Noosa are a bit more protected as they face north, which makes them the perfect place to spend a day on the beach.
For lunch and dinner, there are so many restaurant options on Hastings Street to satisfy any craving or relax for the afternoon at one of the popular craft breweries such as Heads of Noosa and the Noosa Brewing Co.

Sunday

After spending your first day enjoying our beautiful beaches, it might be a nice idea to enjoy our hinterland on Sunday. Some of the famous towns to visit include Montville and Maleny and they are both picture-perfect rural towns with a wide range of speciality stores, art galleries and delicious food options. Maleny is the furthest from Mooloolaba and is about a 40-minute drive.
Nature lovers are spoilt with choice, some natural highlights include Gardeners Falls, Kondalilla Falls and the Mary Cairncross Nature reserve, which is a beautiful place to visit with children.
After a trip to the hinterland, you could visit any one of our family attractions, such as Australia Zoo, Aussie World, The Big Pineapple or the Treetop Challenge, all of which are on the way back to Mooloolaba.

Or if you don’t want to travel far, you could walk across the road from your apartment to the Sea Life Aquarium. They are open until 5 pm daily (at the time of writing), so you could spend a few hours wowing the kids with all the marine life, exhibits and fun experiences.
All that leaves time for is a cocktail by the beach as the sun starts setting, and perhaps a lovely seafood dinner to end your holiday on a high.
