Time off for Dad On the Sunshine Coast

If you are getting away with family here on the Sunshine Coast and looking for some ideas to help Dad truly unwind, then Mooloolaba is an ideal place to base yourself. Being so central to the coastline; and with lots of things to do within walking distance, you really can’t go wrong.

While visiting the Sunshine Coast, whether an off-duty father is looking for an adventure, a hit of golf, a foodie experience or even a surf, then you are in for a good time. Below is a list of some of our guests’ favourite activities:

Hit the Beach – If you stay at our holiday apartments in Mooloolaba, then you are just a short drive from a great surf break off Point Cartwright. Whether you want to have a swim, catch a wave, kick a footy, throw a Frisby, try beach volleyball, or just soak up some sun, then the main Mooloolaba Beach nearby is one of the best locations to enjoy with the boys.

Get Adventurous – At the Bli Bli Watersports Complex, there are many different and fun activities to try. They include water skiing, wakeboarding, kneeboarding, and barramundi fishing, and there’s an inflatable water park for a laugh too.

Join a Craft Brewery Tour – It doesn’t matter if you fancy yourself a beer connoisseur or not, visiting some of the popular breweries on the Sunshine Coast can be a load of fun and a great way to meet other people too. Sunshine Coast is the Craft Beer capital of Queensland and there are multiple Craft Beer Tours you can hop on to take you where you want to go and keep you entertained along the way too. Popular tours visit Terella Brewery, Your Mates, Brouhaha, Heads of Noosa and many more too.

Go Sky Diving – for the adrenaline junkies, there isn’t a better way to see the Coast than jumping out of a plane! With the airport just a 15-minute or so drive away, it’s a short trip to the experience of a lifetime. There are a few skydiving companies on the Sunshine Coast who can take you for a one-way flight to the sky and one of the common landing points is at Stumers Creek in Coolum. Make your time with us unforgettable at 12,000 feet!

Hire A Jet Ski – If you have never had a ride on a jet ski before, then let us tell you, there are thrills to be had! Mooloolaba is a great place to explore by jet ski too, as the ocean is somewhat protected by the Mooloolaba Spit. After a quick lesson, you can be flying across the water, riding waves and racing the kids.

A Game Of Golf – We are blessed on the Sunshine Coast with quite a few high-quality golf courses. If golf is your thing, try Headland nearby in Buderim, Twin Waters, Palmer Coolum Resort, Pelican Waters or Noosa Springs to name a few of our premium selections. We also have a putt-putt golf course on site here at Nautilus so you can work on your short game!

Explore the Night Life – In the evenings on the Sunshine Coast, there are lots of restaurants and bars in Mooloolaba and at The Wharf Mooloolaba precinct too (strolling distance across from our apartments). Ocean Street precinct opposite the Sunshine Plaza is also home to some of our local’s favourite bars, street food, sports bars, and casual dining too.

Whatever reason you have for unwinding on the Sunshine Coast, there is plenty to keep you entertained. One of the big pluses of staying with us at Nautilus is that all of these activities are within a half-hour drive, and many of them are walkable from Mooloolaba.

If you want advice about what to do while you are on the Sunshine Coast with your family, then simply ask our friendly staff while you are here. They can help with transport or booking most activities you might be interested in. We look forward to seeing you soon!
